Career Advice for CA Aspirants: Before Joining CA Articleship

CPT students who have completed their Group I or both the groups are required to enrol at a CA firm for their CA articleship. It is mandatory to complete the professional course and deemed vital to acquire requisite experience and knowledge of this profession.

Being a vital component of their CA career, students should pay special attention to a few things before enrolling for CA articleship.

For instance, their choice of the firm; it is directly related to what 21st-century articles want from CAs. Subsequently, they should take into account if the firm extends additional study leave or happen to be stringent about the same.

After figuring these, students consider the idea of an outstation audit; they should figure if their choice of CA firms is more proficient in this type of audit.

Next on the list should be stipend offered. Though stipend should not top the list of priorities, one must ensure it is as per the ICAI’s standard. Also, a firm that offers ample exposure to both theoretical and practical aspects of chartered accountancy would prove to be a wise decision.

Lastly, one should also take into consideration a firm’s transfer policy and its flexibility to keep its CA articleship experience smooth and pleasant.
